Disney and Lucasfilm gave fans a first look at the upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew during the Lucasfilm showcase panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023. The series, starring Jude Law as an unnamed Jedi, will be out sometime in 2023. No official release date was given during the panel, but the series is in post-production. The series also stars child actors Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, and Robert Timothy Smith.
The teaser from Celebration shows the children living on an unknown forest planet and long for adventure. One night, their parents return home to find their kids have gone missing. We see they have apparently found their way aboard a mercenary starship with adventures ensuing while their parents are begging them to come home. It appears Vane, the Nikto pirate from Gorian Shard‘s crew in The Mandalorian makes an appearance.
The trailer hasn’t been posted online yet but I did find this still from it: (I’ll update this post with the teaser once its released.)
According to Dave Filoni, Skeleton Crew is an adventure story about children around 10-years-old traversing the galaxy, encountering pirates and other creatures as they learn just how big and dangerous the galaxy can be. It takes place during the Mandolorian/Book of Boba Fett timeline. It’s promised to have a very Goonies/Amlin-style feel to it and was dreamed up on the Spider-Man: Far from Home set by director Jon Watts.
Directors for the first season episodes include Watts, Bryce Dallas Howard, the Daniels (Everything Everywhere All At Once), David Lowery, Jake Schreier, and Lee Isaac Chung.
