According to The Hollywood Reporter, Donald Glover and his brother Stephen Glover will be writing Disney+’s Lando series, replacing Haunted Mansion filmmaker Justin Simien, who departed the series before the Glover brothers signed on.
Lando will follow smuggler Lando Calrissian’s story. Glover played the title character in 2018’s Solo and the magnificent Billy Dee Williams in the original and sequel Star Wars movies.
Back in April, Glover spoke to GQ about the project, saying:
“I’m not interested in doing anything that is going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I would much rather spend time with people I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I’d like to hang out with. We’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say.”
We’re likely still a good two-three years away from Lando airing, but the GDL household is excited to see what the Glover brothers (going to type that as many times as I can!) have in store for us.
