Last Chance to Preorder Cosmic Legions Harrow Zone Wave!

By Jonathan Donath

With only mere days left to preorder the latest wave of Cosmic Legions figures direct from Four Horsemen Studios, it’s time to take a closer look Oxkrewe Book 2: The Harrow Zone.  The Horsemen revealed this incredible wave of figures at IshCon 2024 at the beginning of August.  This is the next chapter after the Oxkrewe Book 1 wave, which was revealed at PowerCon 2023.  The story behind Oxkrewe Book 1 centers on a crew of space travelers who crash land on a remote planet known as “Thraxxon,” and encounter a variety of alien beings.  Oxkrewe Book 2 continues that story, as “[t]he surviving members of the OxKrewe must split up to save one of their own” in a “dangerous and unpredictable stretch of Thraxxon known as the Harrow Zone.”  For more of the very cool lore behind these figures, check here: https://sourcehorsemen.com/updates/blog-stories-cosmerrium

The Harrow Zone wave includes seven (7) figures and an accessory/diorama set, and direct preorders through storehorsemen.com close on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 11:00 pm.  First up is my favorite of the wave, Kogg the mechanic.  Kogg is a 7-inch tall simian character in astronaut gear.  Splashes of bright orange and blue bestow some flair on this big chunky guy, who comes with a bunch of accessories, including goggles, bolt cutters, driver gun, 4 tools, a bendy tail (!!) and multiple handsets.

Next is Hylor Cryn, and here is where the wave veers towards some serious Mad Maxxian vibes.  Cryn is fully geared up in a yellow and brown “Hostile Environment Suit,” and is ready for adventures in the harsh wasteland that is the Harrow Zone.  Cryn is replete with soft goods designed by the dynamic CJESIM team, multiple handsets, a vibro-mace, rifle, pistol and shield.  This figure also offers two (2) head options, both helmeted and an un-helmeted bright blue, alien style head.

We continue down Fury Road, I mean, the Harrow Zone, with Jobara Kee, another wasteland warrior, in dark green and brown gear, with splashes of bright orange. Jobara includes helmeted and unhelmeted heads, an electro-baton, shield, face mask and more CJESIM soft goods.  Meanwhile, the Thraxxian Hunter is a reptilian-alien (is he an alien if he is on his home planet?) badass, complete with two (2) heads which are deliciously described as an “aggressive head with bone armor and passive head.”  And what Hunter feels complete without weapons? Here we’ve got a bone club, wooden spear, more soft goods and about a billion handsets.

Next up we have something of a tandem, Ahgcha the Veeblian and Bunji the Mountain Scapeback. Although these figures are sold separately, in canon they are rider and mount.  Both of these figures also have direct connections to Oxkrewe Book 1, which featured a prior Veeblian (Ukha) and a Scapeback (the Lowland Scapeback).  For the uninitiated, a Veeblian is an alien creature, with a long neck and hammerhead-like head, gangly arms and weird-looking feet.  Ahgcha sports some super cool blue coloring that makes him VERY sharklike, helmeted and unhelmeted heads, four (4) sets of hands, a rifle, a staff and a cannister, presumably full of ghosts he has busted.

Again, Bunji is a Mountain Scapeback, which means he looks like what would happen if a wild boar mated with a group of stalactites.  While his predecessor the Lowland Scapeback features a bright purple (or blue, my wife says I’m colorblind) and orange color scheme, Bunji opts for strictly earthtones and comes with a removable saddle and bedroll, for fireside campouts with his buddy Ahgcha. Speaking of which, as with Book 1, Book 2 also includes an accessory and diorama set for all your wasteland/campsite needs. This set includes large and small crates (both with opening lids), a tube (what is this, some kind of a tube?!), antenna, flashlight, binoculars and bolt cutters.

Last, but certainly not least, is Anthophilees, a figure which has a VERY cool backstory.  As some fans may be aware, Four Horsemen Studios has been known in the past to debut certain figures at PowerCon (traditionally a MOTU-focused convention) which bear striking resemblances to MOTU characters.  Well, last year, Four Horseman fan David Williams, one of the most popular and talented action figure customizers and artists in the collecting community, created his own Buzz Off homage custom figure, using Legions parts, and to say he knocked it out of the freaking park would be a considerable understatement.  His design was equal parts accurate and incredible.  Well, the Horsemen took notice, contacted David, and based their own homage/tribute/debut figure on David’s design.  One of the coolest moments of the collecting year came when the Horseman brought David onstage at IshCon to reveal this figure in early August.  While Anthophilees does not have direct place in the Oxkrewe story, he is an amazing figure, and one that is even more meaningful in light of how he came to be.

Again, the direct preorder runs until 11pm EST on Sunday, September 1, 2024, and is available from Storehorsemen.com. Direct preorder prices range from $37-$48, and there is an “All In” option for $299.99, which gets you a nice little discount. These are the best prices you will be able to get on these figures, so don’t wait.  However, preorders will open up at Four Horsemen approved retailers after Sunday at standard (slightly higher) retail prices (and no all-in option), so they will still be available after that.  Check here for more on the backstories of the characters and for some of Trevor “One-Six Shooter” Williams’ amazing photos of these figures: https://sourcehorsemen.com/cosmic-legions/oxkrewe-harrow-zone. You can check out more of David Williams’ work on Instagram @itsdavidwilliams.
