Back in September, there were reports that beloved toy store Toys R Us was attempting to make a brick-and-mortar store comeback in the United States. Although Toys R Us had been housed within a section at most Macy’s department stores since it went bankrupt in 2017, it just wasn’t been the same. Per reports, the plan was to open up to 24 new flagship stores in “prime” cities, as well as locations in airports and cruise ships. There was already a store open at American Dream mall in New Jersey. It was dubbed the “Air, Land and Sea Expansion.“
According to reports, the first airport store was set to open in November, in Terminal A of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, in a partnership with Duty Free Americas.
This morning, Toys R Us is officially opened its second flagship store, just in time for the holiday season, at the Mall of America. It will be located on Level 1, East.
From WHP Global (their parent company):
The new Toys”R”Us flagship store at Mall of America spans over 11,000 square feet and offers a wide assortment of the hottest toys and games for Toys”R”Us kids of all ages. Families can shop for their favorite toys, take a photo with Geoffrey the Giraffe, and rediscover their love of play. Beginning in 2024, the Toys”R”Us flagship will introduce exciting new branded elements like Geoffrey’s Café and ice cream parlor as well as interactive experiences and product demonstrations from popular toy vendors.
