Mattel & Hasbro Announce Licensing Pact for Co-Branded Toys and Games

The news was abuzz during this year’s Spielwarenmesse and now it’s official! Mattel and Hasbro announced via press release a joint multi-year licensing agreement to create co-branded games and toys from some of their most popular properties. This news comes ahead of the two highly anticipated movies coming from each company this summer: Barbie (Mattel/Warner Bros) on July 21 and Transformers: Rise of the Beast (Hasbro/Paramount) on June 9.

Here’s what the collab will bring: Mattel will create Transformers-branded UNO games and Hot Wheels vehicles. The UNO games will debut later in 2023 while the Hot Wheels will be be out in early 2024. Meanwhile, Hasbro will launch Barbie-branded Monopoly games, which will be in stores in Fall 2023.

Both Hasbro and Mattel officials released quotes about how excited they were to work together. You can read the full press release – and their full quotes – here.
